EXTRA! EXTRA!

[computer] Josh Rogers.png

[computer] is a post-immersive audience experience that explores themes of human identity in late-stage capitalism and attempts to uncover the one great unifier in the human experience.

[computer] is a creation from the minds at Harbinger Theatre, a company I have co-founded.

this performance is without actors or story, relying solely on audiences accepting interaction and involvement.

[computer] tackles identity and unity in a post-capitalist world. does [computer] have your answer in this questionable world, or does it simply want your data?

Falling For It is a political clowning solo performance, performed and created by myself.
This performance follows a politician clown who attempts to perform a speech, full of transphobia and hate speech, but keeps falling and slipping up.

This performance utilises verbatim audio clips from current politicians to highlight the severity of the current and ongoing "Trans Debate".

FUGUE

The Political Clown

It's not the end of the world

Production April 2022

A poignant and abstract performance about a man with dementia, exploring deterioration through 1920s song, and Mozart.
I performed as Arthur, a man trapped in his brain, which is trapped in the past at a manor from the 1920s, where he used to work.
This performance followed 4 characters in Arthur's brain, who in the show were "performed" by his carers. This line was blurred much like how Arthur would have seen this. The performance becomes illegible, transgresses decades, sees Arthur go missing, and get lost in his brain. In the end it is unclear what decade Arthur is currently in, and whether he ever even met any of the characters in the show. What is known is that he is alone. I co-devised and directed this performance for a module at University.

Production November 2021
A solo performance about a clown attempting to get the vote of the audience.
This performance was devised and performed by myself, surrounding the rising Populist mindset beginning to take place in the political sphere surrounding the election of Boris Johnson in 2019. It was known by everyone that this politician was a clown, a fool, and yet due to his entertainment factor, he was elected. This performance utilised these ideas by making the audience laugh and then vote for the clown- only for them to realise what they had done.
Production March 2021
A postdramatic reperformance of apocalypse movies.
This performance was co-devised by 11 people as a part of a module at University. We took cliches from Apocolypse movies such as 2012 and The Day after Tomorrow, and created a show that was solely these cliches. I played the part of Polly, next to Bill, who were hosts of "The Day after This Morning", the show that never stopped even after the apocalypse begun.
This performance highlighted the unknown to the "End", and that in film it is often captured by the same characteristics and cliches.
